Pest Control Temecula Ant Control

There are more than 12,000 known species of ants, but only handfuls are a threat to invade your home and yard. In Temecula there are 3 types of ants that we find cause the most problems for homeowners. The most troublesome of those three is the Argentine Ant with the native California Fire Ant next and its cousin, the Red Imported Fire Ant next. Treating to get rid of these ants takes different products and methods. Using the wrong products just makes a problem grow. Argentine Ants Worker ants are about 2.2 to 2.8 millimeters long and have one node. Their color runs from light to dark brown. Outdoors, they nest in a variety of areas where there is moisture and in shadier spots during the summer. They can be found near walls, next to sidewalks and under stepping stones. Indoors, they can be found in wet or damp wall insulation or voids that have a high moisture levels. This ant type does not have the ability to sting. An Argentina ant Nest. Native Fire Ant (Stinging and Biting Ant) They are about 4 to 5 millimeters long. These ants can vary in color, although most are a light reddish-brown. During warmer months, this ant forms nests in a wide range of outdoor habitats including gardens, lawns, school yards, parks and shrubbery. They may form nests inside during colder months, usually under bath tubs, water heaters or other warm areas with moisture. This fire ant is aggressive and can produce a painful sting when disturbed. Red Imported Fire Ant (Stinging and Biting Ants) This ant is similar to its cousin, the native fire, but the big difference in the two is the Red Imported Fire Ant nests contain thousands more ants and they are 100 time more aggressive. It’s not unusual to unknowingly stepping on or near a nest and have your foot covered in ant within seconds. Both Native and Imported fire ant nests. They are the same. Fire ant attacks Call Wheeler’s Pest Control if you have a problem with any of those ants. 951-681-2847
