Poisonous Spiders in Orange County California

Recluse spiders Spiders are a common household pest control problem in Orange County California. Most of the spiders you see in or around your home are not poisonous. The most common poisonous ones are the black widow and brown widow but we do have two types of recluse spiders also. The Desert Recluse and the Chilean Recluse, in Southern California

If their webs are disturbed they will come out of hiding to see what’s going on. But generally, these spiders keep to themselves in low to the ground areas or under the eaves of your home. The Recluse spiders are usually under something, like rocks or other debris on the ground or behind pictures hanging on a wall or on the backside of drapes if they are inside. Over-the-counter pest sprays can solve a spider infestation temporarily if you directly hit the spider with the spray or get the product in the cracks or crevices were they hide. These spiders really aren’t affected by walking over a spot you sprayed. But if you get your pesticide were they hide they will be sitting on the product and will pick up enough of the pesticide to kill it. But for a long term solution for spider control preventative maintenance is recommended. Here are some tips for controlling spiders in and around your home. Keep bushes and trees away from your home. Use yellow colored lights for outside light. They don’t attract the bugs spider eats. Keep your door sweeps in good repair. Make sure your screens are in good condition and fit tightly. Keep clutter out of your garage and away from the base of your home. Vacuum thoroughly inside the house making sure you vacuum up all visible spider webs. Use sticky insect traps around base boards and behind furniture. You can get those sticky traps at most hardware stores.
