Detouring gophers From your yard with plants.

Planting around the exterior of your yard to put up a organic gopher barrier will save your yard. Below is complete list of plant gopher dislike.  

Trees and shrubs: Arbutus unedo, buddleja, callistimon, ceanothus, cistus, escallonia, fuchsia, grevillia, toyon, hydrangea, lantana, michelia, nandina, oleander, pomegranate, ribes, rosemary, salvia (native and nonnative), westringia.

Perennial flowers: dietes, lavender, nepeta, shasta daisy, California fescue, euphorbias, foxglove, juncus, mimulus.

Bulbs: Amaryllis belladonna (naked lady), ornamental alliums, anemone, daffodil, hyacinth, scilla. Many are drought tolerant, and there are quite a few California natives among them.
