TYPES OF GOPHER CONTROL

The three main methods of gopher pest control are fumigation, trapping and hand application of baits.

GOPHER TRAPPING SERVICE

Gopher Trapping is a safe and effective method for controlling pocket gophers. There many types of traps and we have used them all. But we have found a newer trap that easy to use and is the most effective of all traps.  More recently, the Gopher Hawk has been developed which is a choker-style trap that allows for direct insertion into the gopher burrow. There are YOUTUBE videos on how to use so watch a few.

Check traps often and reset when necessary. If you haven't captured a gopher  reset the traps in a different location.

GOPHER PEST CONTROL BY BAITING

For large and heavily infested areas, trapping is both too time consuming and too expensive in comparison with to the use of baits or fumigation.  To control gophers by using bait, the main runway must be located by probing about 12 to 18 inches from the mound. When the runway is found, bait is dropped into the hole made by the probe and the hole is covered so that no light leaks into the tunnel. It is usually necessary to place baits only near the two freshest mounds in a burrow system. Gopher baiting should always be done by a licensed gopher exterminator due to hazards of handling and storing bait on your property.

Fumigation is very effective for gopher. Due to safety it can't be done within 100 feet of any structure. Its mainly used on parks, right of ways, golf course, commercial properties, vineyards, orange groves.
